I am an honours graduate from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, having spent three years studying BA (Hons) Stage Management and Technical Theatre. During this period I was awarded the 'Cardiff New Theatre Society (1965-1997) Arthur Morris Jones Award' in 2017 for my academic merit and quality of practical work. I have gained great experience within the Stage Management Department, fulfilling the role of Stage Manager on the UK Premiere of 'Between Riverside and Crazy'.
Having successfully experienced the various roles within the production team, my forte and passion lies in lighting design. I have undertaken the role of lighting designer on a number of different productions, each presenting their own unique challenges from the play 'Blindsided' by Simon Stephens performed in an intimate studio space to Kurt Weill's opera, 'Street Scene' at the Main House, Sherman Theatre in Cardiff.
I approach each production positively, taking on their individual challenges. I take time to understand the design concept, whether that may be a naturalistic piece like 'Three Days in the Country' utilising subtle lighting shifts to enhance the production, or a stylised, contemporary piece like 'Punk Rock' incorporating the use of striking lighting states and strobe effects.
